What a Yoga is
In Jyotisha a Yoga is a specific combination of planets, signs and houses that classical texts single out for its results. Some promise status or wealth, some describe character, and a few describe difficulties. A Yoga only gives full results when the planets forming it are strong, unafflicted and activated by the Dasha of one of them.
Checking for Vidyut Yoga in your chart
Yoga detection depends on exact house positions and lordships, which change with the Ascendant. Cast your birth chart to see which classical Yogas are present, how strong the participating planets are and when their periods run.
Common questions
How does Vidyut Yoga form?
The description at the top of this page gives the classical rule. Detection depends on house lordships from your Ascendant, so the same planets can form it in one chart and not another.
When does Vidyut Yoga give results?
Mostly during the Mahadasha or Antardasha of the planets that form it, and when they are strong by sign and house.
Is Vidyut Yoga rare?
Some form of it appears in many charts. What matters is strength: well-placed, unafflicted planets give clear results; weak ones give mild results.
Can Vidyut Yoga be cancelled?
Classical texts list conditions that weaken a Yoga, such as debilitation, combustion or affliction of the planets involved. A full chart reading checks these.
